Template letter for EU Commissioners

Dear Member of European Commission,

It came to my attention that after your revision of the firearms directive, that did not increase public safety but managed to greatly increase the complexity of firearms legislation, you are about to try to ban lead ammunition. As a method, you have chosen to use ECHA and “selected set” of studies to circumvent the democratic process and elected representation of the citizens.

Let me express my opinion on the subject.

You are unelected officials.
You try to get around European Parliament on this matter.
You use ECHA and selected set of studies to support your agenda.
You are trying to restrict my rights – the rights of a law abiding citizen.

With this approach, the only thing you will achieve is to further alienate 15 million European citizens, undermining the faith in the EU project. This will inevitably lead to feed the populists and anti-EU movements, so I would like to kindly urge you re-think your position.

Sincerely yours

The above email should be sent to the following Commissioners:

Template letter for Members of the European Parliament

Dear Member of the European Parliament,

As your voter, I would like to bring to your attention that the European Commission, after a failed attempt to ban guns, is about to try to ban lead ammunition. First in shotguns – using so called Ramsar definition of wetlands, which basically means outright ban of using lead ammunition in hunting and in sport shooting.

Unlike the EU firearms directive revision, in which elected representatives of the people were part of the process, the commission has now found a way to mock democratic principles and use ECHA – and selected set of studies to support their pre-determined agenda – to bypass the European Parliament.

They have now the first ban on lead ammunition in the finishing stages – and due to successfully circumventing the parliament and the democratic process they have already started the second ban, which will be outright ban on lead ammunition in shotguns and rifles. This will mean a death-blow to shooting sports.

Let me express my opinion on the subject.

The EC are not elected officials.
They try to get around European Parliament on this matter.
They use ECHA as a tool to circumvent elected officials – YOU.
They try to restrict my rights – the rights of a law abiding citizen.

With this approach, the only thing the Commission will achieve is to further alienate 15 million European citizens, undermining the faith in the EU project. This will inevitably lead to feed the populists and anti-EU movements, so I would like to kindly urge you to push back to the EC on the lead ban.

Your action on this matter will influence my vote in the next EUParl elections.

Sincerely yours
